The Beauty of Life at Home

Welcoming a new baby to your family is one of the most beautiful and emotional moments in life. The first week sleepy stretches, tiny fingers, and quiet snuggles, it all changes so quickly. That's why I believe newborn sessions shouldn't be about perfection, but about preserving what's real. Your families love, your baby's early days, and the warmth of your home.

Lifestyle newborn sessions with Momoire & Co Photography are gentle, unhurried, and deeply personal. They're not about posing your baby in baskets or elaborate setups, they're about storytelling your story.

Here's some information about what you can expect and how to prepare for your in-home newborn session.

What Makes a Lifestyle Newborn Session Different?

Unlike studio photography, a lifestyle newborn session takes place in the comfort of your own home where life is actually happening. No rushing, no packing bags, no worrying about schedules. Just soft light, genuine connection, and moments that unfold naturally.

I focus on capturing your family’s rhythm; quiet feedings, gentle cuddles, and the way your baby fits perfectly in your arms. I’ll guide you through easy, natural movements so nothing feels forced or staged.

In short: it’s about real love, real warmth, and real life.

When to Schedule your Session

Newborn sessions are best done within the first 2–3 weeks after birth, when your little one is still in that dreamy, sleepy phase. But if your baby is a few weeks (or even a month) old, don’t worry! Lifestyle sessions are flexible, and every stage of the newborn season is beautiful.

If possible, I recommend reaching out during your second or third trimester to reserve your spot on my calendar. I’ll pencil in your due date and stay in touch once your little one arrives to finalize the session time and date.

How Long the Session Takes

Expect your session to last about 1.5 to 2 hours. This allows time for feedings, diaper changes, and breaks because we move entirely at your baby’s pace. There’s no pressure, no timer, and no rush.

I’ll photograph a mix of moments; your baby on their own, snuggled with each parent, and with any siblings or pets. My goal is for you to feel completely relaxed and enjoy this quiet window of connection.

Note: If there are any shots that are a must have during your session, reach out to me (Or your local photographer) with those. They are very good to have so we can create those memories for you.

How to prepare Your Home

You don’t need a spotless house, I promise! I’m looking for light and love, not perfection. Here are a few small things that make a big difference:

• Open the blinds and curtains to let in natural light.

• Tidy up 1–2 main areas: usually the living room, master bedroom, and/or nursery.

• Turn off overhead lights. Soft, natural light photographs best.

• Keep a neutral or cozy blanket nearby for texture and warmth.

If your home has Christmas or seasonal décor up, even better — those details add to the warmth of your story.

What To Wear

This section is only useful if you have absolutely no idea. It's meant to guide you in the right direction, but ultimately, your outfit represents what you want for you and your family!

For parents: Choose soft, neutral tones (cream, beige, muted green, dusty rose, or light gray). Avoid loud patterns or logos

For baby: Light fabrics like swaddles, onesies, or soft sleepers. I always recommend having 1–2 extra outfits handy, in case of little accidents.

🎀 Pro tip: Barefoot is beautiful. Skin-to-skin photos are especially meaningful in newborn sessions, they highlight connection and tenderness in the most natural way.

What Happens During your Session

When i arrive

When I first arrive to your home, don't rush at all! Even if little Timmy is still running around yelling Eureka in their underwear. I will still need a few minutes to set up my camera and take a look around the areas we planned to shoot for the day. So this is still time for you to continue getting the last few bits done.

I’ll gently guide you through natural prompts; holding your baby near the window, rocking them to sleep, or snuggling together on the bed. We’ll go slow, follow your baby’s cues, and pause for feedings or diaper changes as needed.

If you have older siblings, I’ll include them in an easy and fun way. My approach is simple: no pressure, no posing battles, mostly just play, giggles, and love. As a mama of 3, I know how toddlers can be in their no era, and I have no problems working with them. This session is to focus on baby, with natural interactions. If sibling doesn't want to be involved in the moment of, that's okay! I allow them to play and join when they're ready. And with toddlers, it doesn't take long for them to come see join what they family is doing.

Think of your session as family time with a camera quietly documenting it.

What Makes the Momoire & Co Experience Special

I understand that these early days can feel overwhelming. You’re adjusting, exhausted, and soaking it all in. That’s why I handle everything with care and flexibility. I’ll arrive with a calm, nurturing energy and help you feel completely at ease.

I don’t just photograph your family, I connect with it. Every detail matters to me: the way your hands cradle your baby’s head, the soft light on their cheeks, the comfort in your home. My goal is for your photos to feel like memories.

After the Session: Receiving Your Gallery

You’ll receive a soft-proof gallery within two weeks of your session. From there, you can choose your favorites to be professionally edited or upgrade to receive your full gallery if you can’t decide (which most parents can’t!).

Your final photos will be delivered in a beautiful online gallery. Perfect for sharing with family and downloading in high resolution.

Final Thoughts: Slow Down and Savor It

These early days go by in a blur, but your photos will bring you back to them every time you look. The tiny yawns, the sleepy cuddles, the newness of it all. This is your story.

Let’s document it beautifully, honestly, and with love.
